Better Fires, Better Habitats
With every purchase it fuels our mission to create eco-friendly fire starters that also have a bigger purpose to support vital bee and other polinator habitats. Together, we're helping to make a difference.
Why do we give back?

🐝
It all begins with an idea. Maggie, our founder, started her career working in non-profits for Great Lakes ecology, sparking her fast track to a career and passion for biology and conservation. We believe that by working together with our customers and non-profit partners, we can create a lasting impact that helps secure a healthier, greener planet.

At Bee Kindling, we believe that small actions can ignite meaningful change. Our journey started with the idea of creating sustainable fire starters using reclaimed materials, and it has grown into something bigger — a commitment to the planet and the communities that depend on it.

Non-profits work to reduce waste, preserve natural habitats, and promote sustainable practices. For us, it's not just about making fire starters; it's about creating a positive impact that lasts beyond the flame.

For us, giving back isn’t just an add-on; it’s an integral part of our mission to be a kinder company for a kinder planet. Every fire starter we sell isn’t just fueling your next fire — it’s fueling important work around the world that helps preserve natural resources, reduce waste, and empower future generations to live more sustainably.

We are a small business, but our commitment is big. We believe that businesses can be a force for good, and through our partnerships with selected non-profits, we can contribute to a ripple effect of positive change. Our customers are an essential part of that journey. Every fire starter purchase is more than just a transaction; it’s a decision to support eco-friendly living and environmental stewardship.
Our previously selected non-profits
Curious who we have selected and donated in the past? Check them out below!

The Xerces Society
We selected the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation for our first non-profit conservation to donate to. At the end of 2024 we donated $50 to their cause. Xerces Society is an international nonprofit organization that protects the natural world by preserving invertebrates (this includes bees) and their habitats. As a science-based organization, they conduct research and rely on the most up-to-date information to guide their conservation work. Their key program areas are pollinator conservation, endangered species conservation, and reducing pesticide use and impacts.

Detroit Hives
We selected Detroit Hives as our for our first 2025 non-profit conservation to donate to. At the end of the first quarter we donated $25 to their cause. Although slower sales contributed to the smaller donation. We were excited to donate to a Michigan specific bee conservation group. Detroit Hives are a regional nonprofit organization that transforms vacant Detroit (Michigan) lots into urban bee farms. They focus on Conservation, Education and Revitalization. They even have honey to sell!
